Mike Welch

Inducted into the Arizona High School Coaches Athletic Hall of Fame int 2019, Coach Welch has coached at 11 different high schools and colleges in Arizona during his 33 years of coaching. Serving as head coach, assistant head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and assistant coach, Coach Welch has coached every position on the football field. 

As assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Mesa College, Coach Welch’s offensive was the #3 ranked offense in the country for 3 straight years averaging over 112 offensive plays per game and putting up over 44 points per game.

Coach is a native of Arizona, and a graduate of Buckeye Union High School. In 1992, Coach Welch earned his Bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University.  While at NAU, Welch played football for Head Coach Larry Kentera, offensive line coach and former Head Coach of the University of Nebraska Bill Callahan, and then offensive coordinator and former Head Coach of the Minnesota Vikings Brad Childress. Coach claims that Callahan was a “major influence” on his style of coaching.

In 2003, Coach Welch earned his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.

Coach Welch is married to the former Michelle Morrison of Phoenix; they have 3 children, Hailey, Drew, and Jaimee
