Alan Busey

Alan Busey joined Valley City State University (VCSU) in January 2024 as a Wide Receiver Coach. Alongside his coaching responsibilities, Alan is also pursuing his Master’s degree. His role at VCSU has further expanded as he now serves as the head football recruiter for the university in the State of Alaska.

Alan’s journey in football is marked by significant achievements both on and off the field. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in 2019, where he played as a wide receiver for three seasons. During his tenure at UTEP, Alan made a notable impact on the field, showcasing his skills and dedication to the sport. He earned a liberal arts degree, balancing his academic pursuits with his athletic commitments.

Before his time at UTEP, Alan made a name for himself at Chabot College, a high-profile junior college in California. There, he set the all-time season receiving record with an impressive 1,080 yards. His outstanding performance earned him All-Conference and All-State honors, making him one of the standout players in the junior college circuit.

Alan’s football journey began at Service High School in Alaska, where he was an All-State wide receiver. He played a pivotal role in leading the Cougars to a State Football Championship. By the time he graduated, Alan held the Alaska all-time single-season reception record with 70 catches, a testament to his talent and hard work.

With his extensive experience as a player and now as a coach and recruiter, Alan Busey brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to VCSU. His contributions are expected to significantly impact the development of the football program and the recruitment of top talent from Alaska.
